Determining suitable DaCAS example solutions
The DaCAS work item [1] aims to specify suitable example solution(s) for generating IVAS input formats. Several target devices have been identified with varying form factors and microphone placements. Given that the IVAS codec supports many input formats, a large number of example solutions are expected to be submitted. This contribution continues the discussion from [2] and proposes a way forward for determining suitable DaCAS example solutions.
Good progress has been achieved in defining the evaluation process for DaCAS example solutions over past meetings, with potential completion at the current Goa meeting. The evaluation procedure is considered a key tool for determining the suitability of example solutions.
Clarification is required on:
- The detail level for example solution descriptions
- Aspects to be included to enable specification in TS 26.533
- Initial proposals are provided in [2]
Suitability of example solutions can be demonstrated by providing:
- Agreed evaluation procedures
- Appropriate documentation
In this context, suitability is understood as demonstrated feasibility that is sufficiently documented for reproducibility.
All example solutions which are evaluated, described, and documented according to procedures and level of detail agreed by SA4 prior to example solution submission will be included in an informative Annex of TS 26.533.
Suitability is therefore determined by:
- Demonstration of feasibility
- Provision of sufficient documentation
Within the DaCAS work item, or in future work (depending on timely completion of requirements in TS 26.261 as part of ATIAS_Ph3-MED), the documented/suitable example solutions can be further evaluated against an agreed set of requirements.
All example solutions that additionally meet the requirements defined in TS 26.261 will be specified (including the documentation of the test results) in TS 26.533 with informative status.
For these solutions:
- Example solutions demonstrating suitability and meeting requirements would be moved from Annex to main body
- Such solutions may be considered to have demonstrated a quality-level expected for services
- Specifying these as recommended solutions may require provision of detailed algorithmic description and source code (which may not be required for all example solutions)
