# 3GPP Technical Document Summary

## Document Information
- **Source:** SA3-LI
- **Document Number:** S4-260134 / s3i260049
- **Meeting:** SA4 #135 (February 2026) / SA3LI #100 (January 2026)
- **Title:** LS on LI requirements
- **Release:** Rel-20
- **Work Item:** LI20

## Overall Purpose

This is a Liaison Statement (LS) from SA3-LI to SA2, SA3, SA4, and SA6 regarding Lawful Interception (LI) requirements for 6G systems.

## Main Technical Contributions

### LI Requirements Continuity for 6G

SA3-LI has determined that:
- All currently defined LI requirements in **TS 33.126** remain applicable for 6G
- These requirements may be expanded to accommodate 6G-related changes being developed in SA2
- LI considerations must be integrated early in the 6G architecture development to avoid post-development issues that could prevent compliance with LI requirements across different jurisdictions and legal frameworks

### Proactive Coordination Request

SA3-LI requests that SA2, SA3, SA4, and SA6:
1. Identify potential topics within their respective work areas that may require SA3-LI input before the 6G architecture is finalized
2. Send LSs to SA3-LI on these topics
3. Take existing TS 33.126 requirements and future 6G LI expansions into account during architecture definition

### Proposed Text Addition

SA3-LI requests the addition of the following normative text to clause 4.2 of **TR 23.801-01** and other 6G TRs/TSs under development:

> "Lawful interception requirements shall be taken into account for all WTs and corresponding key issues in this study. For more details on LI requirements, see TS 33.126."

## Actions Requested

### To SA2:
- Add reference to LI requirements in clause 4.2 of TR 23.801-01 with the proposed text
- Request clarification from SA3-LI on any aspects of TS 33.126 if needed
- Inform SA3-LI of any issues in TR 23.801-01 solutions that may prevent compliance with TS 33.126

### To SA3, SA4, and SA6:
- Add reference to LI requirements in their respective 6G studies with the proposed text
- Request clarification from SA3-LI on any aspects of TS 33.126 if needed
- Inform SA3-LI of any issues in their 6G solutions that may prevent compliance with TS 33.126
